What To Put In A Smoothie

All you need to put in a delicious healthy smoothie are frozen fruits and vegetables topped with ingredients you can find in the grocery store, such as yogurt, protein powder, nut butter and chia seeds. Mixing year-round fruits such as bananas and apples creates a simple, tasty and refreshing option. Simple fruit smoothies make her feel energetic, healthy and good and for me I use frozen mixed fruits such as a mixture of sliced peaches, seedless red grapes, pineapple and strawberries.

What to put in a smoothie will depend on your personal tastes. I like to have at least frozen bananas and frozen strawberries for smoothies. You can use milk, almond milk or coconut milk juice for your smoothie. Liquid milk or dairy-free alternatives such as soy or almond milk, naturally flavored yogurts, fruit juices, tropical smoothies, low fat coconut milk or coconut water are super liquids for smoothies.

I made a basic recipe for a classic strawberry smoothie and a strawberry banana hemp smoothie because I love the feeling of drinking one.  If you prefer to prepare it without a banana, you can skip the banana and add extra fruit or a small handful of ice cream.

You can build on this recipe by modifying it with different fruits such as blueberries or using low-fat soy milk or skimmed milk. This smoothie is full of good ingredients and tastes like a healthy chocolate milkshake with a bit of cocoa added in. Try it with mangoes, grapes,  and peaches and include various vegetables, yogurt and chia seeds too for a variety.

You can add honey, real maple syrup, fruit, juice, sweetened milk or sweetened yogurt to your smoothies without adding artificial sweeteners. I feel that the health benefits of smoothies permit me to add a little sweetener, but depending on the smoothie, I usually add honey or maple syrup or more fruit or fruit juice to sweeten milk or yogurt.

Nut butter, chia seeds and protein powder are great for smoothies and it is also possible to go further in addition to other smoothie ingredients. Nut butter, seeds such as chia, hemp, ground flaxseeds or avocado can fill your smoothie with heart-protecting fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids, depending on your choice.

Fill your blender with fruit, almond milk, ice cream and whatever you want. Most fruits are a great source of nutrients and a fruit smoothie can contain 2-3 servings of fruit. For smoothies with yogurt, add a little more fruit or vegetables such as spinach or kale.

If you don’t have a high-speed mixer, you’ll need to add more milk so it’s not as thick as the mixer can handle when mixing the smoothie. For thicker smoothies, start with less almond milk, and you can add more as you mix. You may also need to add extra water or milk without dairy products to thin it out a bit.

After making the smoothie, put in the blender and stir until smooth. If it is too thick, it will not be mixed into a normal blender. Usually I take a few extra minutes to support the mixture before I add more milk.

If you want to make a smoothie, it is a good idea to put some fruit in the freezer. The fruit not only retains its nutritional value and taste, but also cools the smoothie without the need for ice cream. Add a pinch of honey, maple syrup or agave syrup if needed and add a few ice cubes to the blender for a thick, frozen smoothie.

If you have fresh or frozen fruit, you can throw a handful or two ice cubes in the blender to make the smoothie frosty and thick. For smoothies, the use of frozen fruit as a base adds a nice base sweetness that you can build up at will. If you have sliced frozen bananas, you could even delete ice cream from any smoothie recipe.

Choose filtered water, coconut water or dairy-free milk such as almond milk, hemp milk or cashew milk for a creamy smoothie. If you prefer sweet smoothies, you can also try flavored yogurt. Add a tablespoon of some simple Greek yogurt to ensure a protein-packed, creamy smoothie.

Avoid fruit juice most of the time in your smoothie recipes as it adds unnecessary sugar. It is important that you use enough frozen fruit in your smoothie to make it creamy. In fact, ice cream makes the smoothie chunky rather than smooth and clouds the taste of the fruit.
